There is a misconception that Flowers are just for the fairer sex, in that, us men should shy away from anything of a floral print nature. Oh contraire by dear masculine friends, as for Summer of this year, all things flowery are everywhere. Our dear clothing retailers from high end designer to high Street wonders are embracing their inner flower power and in all honesty it must be shifting as retailers can’t get the floral trend pieces on the shelves quick enough for us. So as alway we do the hard work so you don’t have to so here are some of the hottest items from this Summer’s brightest trend.

image“A man’s got to have a code, a creed to live by.” – The late and great Mr John Wayne. Now there never was a greater cowboy of the silver screen then the inimitable big John Wayne whether it was  Fort Apache, El Dorado, Rio Grande or True Grit you didn’t mess with this man and if your were stupid enough to do so, you could expect one thing, Trouble.

The look of the traditional Cowboy whether it be the Marlboro Man, the classic American dream manifested in a check shirt and denim jeans all summed up in Marion Mitchell Morrison, otherwise known as John Wayne, this look is a timeless masculine theme. Epitomising this great trend has to be the Western shirt or Cowboy shirt, which so easily looks great with a pair of jeans or cords as it does giving a less formal edge to the humble suit.

As always we are here to advise you on 6 of the very best that are currently available to you, well right now.

A great example of a classic plaid Western shirt but there is nothing Traditional about this brand, no siree, ohh it True Religion by the way.

Yipee ka yeah ! This be one of the routenest, tootenets finest cowboy shirts around this then parts and is available from French Connection.

There is no disputing the fact that Renzo Rosso, his new Creative Director, Nicola Formichetti and those there guys over at Diesel are Masters are producing Classics with a Modern twist.

Like a good single breasted black suit, every man should have a decent Chambray shirt at his disposal And they don’t come much better then this example by Polo Ralph Lauren.

Now this great lil shirt also comes in a gold colour way but I thought if you are going to invest in a shirt of this nature, you probably want to tone things down somewhat. It’s a brilliantly literal interpretation of the Cowboy shirt and is from no other then TOPMAN.

To finish this post we’ve gone for a more versatile shirt this time by G-Star so whether your home on the range or just plain home, this ticks many of the boxes with this trend.

Ahhh the nights are drawing in and its getting harder and harder to get up in mornings, Winter’s on its way and if your to believe the reports of those pesky weathermen and women, Sian Lloyd I’m talking about you its gonna get mighty cold in the coming weeks (and months). Now the style of knitwear for this season is none of this fine gauge light weight nonsense, Ohhh no. Its as though the Fashion houses around the world have been looking into their meteorological crystal balls and can see Winter 2013 is one for good and heavy old fashion Jumpers !

So we at Clothes Make the Man have searched far and wide for some of the best example of THE knitwear for the season, the knitwear in question being, the ‘Aran Jumper’ otherwise known as the ‘Cable knit Sweater’. Now there is an incredibly interesting, if not macabre, story behind this type of garment. Many moons ago the fishermen of the Aran Island, off the coast of Galway, Eire would get their good lady wives and mothers to knit them, fine sturdy jumpers to keep them warm and protect against those savage Atlantic conditions. Now the ladies would knit for their men folk jumpers but would add in intrinsic cable patterns onto them. So heres the interesting bit, every family who lived on the three main Islands which make up the Aran Islands, Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer would all alter their patterns, almost like having a family coat of arms. So if one of the fishermen were wash overboard, basically his body could be identified by the jumper, or more importantly, the pattern on his Aran Jumper, told you it was macabre !

So with thought still engrained on your minds check out 6 of the best examples, our finest retailers have to offer –

Sorry, I’ve literally just been sent the below video the Autumn 2013, sorry Fall Collection by it presents a season of heritage looks paired with authentic American roughwear. Key pieces include versatile tailored pieces and a range of sportswear—from estate tweeds and signature fairisle knits to a special selection of nylon and down jackets crafted by RLX and mixed with Polo. Not only is it beautifully shot, making me long to be wherever it is, but I can quite honestly say I want every single piece PLEASE !

As the weather doesn’t seem to know if its coming or going at the moment, we have to still be hopeful that Summer 2013 will eventually arrive and in preparation. One of the most versatile pieces of menswear kit at your disposal is the humble Polo Shirt. OK not from such humble beginnings, we have the French tennis champion Monsieur René Lacoste to thank for inventing this wonderful bit of clobber, back in 1933, when he replaced the classical woven, long-sleeved starched shirt with a light and comfortable short-sleeved one in airy petit piqué fabric, better known today as the classic LACOSTE polo shirt.

Since then the polo shirt has come a long way baby, refusing to be categorised into a casual or formal box, the polo shirt can be worn on either occasion looking equally as good teamed with a clean, crisp single breasted suit for a summer wedding as it does with a pair of dark selvage denim jeans on a long, leisurely evening out with a loved one.
